Q: Have you always wanted to be a singer or did you have aspirations for a different career path ?!

A:  Yes, I always have. I use to sing by my self all the time. When I was about 8 or 9 my brother and sister and I tried to put together our own bad-ass family group – The Aparicio 3 (inspired by The Jackson 5 just not quite as good…)

Q:Where do you draw inspiration for your music from?!

A: Where do you draw inspiration for your music from?!

Q: How would you describe the sound of your music?!

A: I like the very generic yet ambiguous term “Rock”. I’m a Rock musician. I’m a Rock singer,  but I do draw from many influences and if you listen closely, it’s all there… From the GlamRock of Bowie and T-Rex to the Arena Rock of Zeppelin & Queens to the Punkrock of Iggy & The Ramones to the New Wave of The Pretenders and Blondie to the Garage Rock of The Replacements to the electro pop of Prince to in-your-face Groove Rock of Grace Jones to the Queen-of-Everything Rock of Madonna to the Cuban SalsaRock of Celia Cruz to the Alternative Rock of Nirvana and Hole to the poprock of Justin Bieber – Ok, forget that one..

Q: Which of the songs on your new album “All These Brilliant Things” is your favorite and why?

A:  Actually, I just released a new EP called “The BedRoom Tapes” which includes my new single and video “Lucille”. My favorite track on this one is called “The Future”. It’s pretty psychedelic. It’s pretty trippy. And it’s definitely Joy Division-ish!!! Oh and btw, my favorite off of All These Brilliant Things is still “Jameson & Cocaine”!!!

Q: Do you feel like LGBT artist get the credit they deserve in the music industry?!

A: I think it’s up to us- the artist – to embrace our sexuality a bit more. I think the more “Out” artist there are the more the “industry” will be comfortable with it. It’s fabulous to have Adam Lambert and Melissa Ethridge and Missy Elliot… Oh wait… I wish all those gay artist who are “out” now were “out” then when they were big stars (not mentioning any names – George Michael, Boy George, Michael Stipe and so on and so on…) You know what an impact that would have had on the music industry… On pop culture.. On society in general…

Q: What made you want to produce music as an openly gay artist rather than stay closeted in hopes of gaining better exposure like a lot of gay artist do?!

A: WE CAN CHANGE THE WORLD. If all the artists (musicians, actors, directors, producers, etc)who are in the closet would just come out already, the world would be a different place.
Q: When can we expect your next single?

A: New EP “The Bedroom Tapes” is OUT NOW on itunes. “Lucille” my latest single is #5 on LogoTV’s Click List right now and heading to #1 (don’t forget to vote kids http://www.logotv.com/shows/dyn/the_click_list/video_voting.jhtml

Q: What is you ultimate goal for your career in music?! Where do you see yourself in 5 years?!

A: Self-sustainment (but filling Madison Square Garden wouldn’t be bad either…)

Thanks again for doing the interview :) You are a great asset to the LGBT community.
