“I’m done recording the whole album … I made sure not to let you down with my music! You guys are always defending me, so now you’ve got some great songs to justify it. I didn’t want to go backward and remake [2007's] ‘Good Girl Gone Bad.’ I wanted the next step in the evolution of Rihanna, and it’s perfect for us.”

If you all could see my inbox you would know that almost once a week a I receive a message from one of my younger blog readers telling me that they came out and lost all their friends and didn’t know what to do. While it breaks my heart to hear this the even sadder part is the fact that this isn’t unusual or un ordinary at all.
Alot of LGBT youth loose their friends and family after they make the decision to come out. Friends are a very important part of your life when your in your younger adolescence. I remember feeling like my friends were everything in high school. I would have died if they ever turned there backs on me. But that was then and I’m older and wiser now. Half the people I knew in high school I don’t even talk to anymore. This will be the case for alot of people as time goes on. What i’m trying to say is that of your friends turn your back on you after you come out its not the end of the world. Although its hard and everything in life is a little easier with the support of good friends and family, you WILL make it through if your friends decide to leave you high and dry.
The older you get the more you realize that friends will come and go through out your lifetime. There’s only a select few people who will be a part of your life forever and those are the type of people who would never turn their back on you. If you find yourself in a situation where your alone and isolated know that you’ll always have ONE friend. Me. I will always be here for you guys to talk to and I will always be hear to listen if that’s what you need me to do. Aside from myself, there are hundreds of people in the LGBT community that would love to extend a helping hand to anyone who is in need of a friend. You are never alone even when you think you are.
Go through the motions no matter how hard it seems and in the end, you will come out with good friends who are accepting of you and your sexuality. Do things to occupy your time until the tide subsides. Acquire new hobbies, focus on school, or pick up that extra job you were thinking about getting to save money for that new car you love :-) Don’t let your world stop turning because there are a few people in the world who are to insecure about themselves to embrace diversity or anything new. Just live life, pray, and keep the people close who do want to be in your life. Those are the only people you should give your energy and love to. Everyone’s blessed with the light that shines inside them. Never forget that!
